About Us

We are innovators and producers of next-generation precision fertilizers that enhance both the financial and environmental performance of farms, forests, and greenhouses. Our natural, plastic-free, granular fertilizer gives plants a strong start by promoting healthier root systems and improved stress tolerance.

Cropcision was founded in 2022, inspired by research conducted at Umeå University in Sweden.
The idea behind Cropcision originated from a simple observation made by Jonathan Love, CEO and co-founder, during a run. With a background in biotechnology, forestry, and agriculture across Sweden, New Zealand, and Australia, Jonathan noticed white mineral deposits and green moss growing on the outside of an old terracotta flower pot. This indicated that nutrients were slowly migrating through the porous clay, nourishing the moss on the surface.
The observation sparked a deeper reflection on a well-known challenge in agriculture and forestry: a significant share of applied nutrients never reach the plant. For nutrients to be effective, they must remain in the root zone and be available over time—rather than leaching away. The properties of the terracotta pot pointed toward a potential solution.

Jonathan reached out to Associate Professor Michael Holmboe at the Department of Chemistry , and together they began developing the technology that would later form the foundation of Cropcision’s patented platform. This research has since been translated into a precision nutrient solution for agriculture, forestry, and horticulture.

Cropcision’s first commercial brand, SILVIVO®, targeting the forestry sector, was launched in 2025, with an international rollout planned, initially focusing on South America and Australia. At the same time, we are preparing to scale into agriculture, with multiple new products in the pipeline.

At Cropcision, we transform research-driven innovation into real-world impact—supporting stronger plant establishment, healthier soils, and long-term value creation.

Our Vision

To support the security and affordability of food and wood fibre, responsibly

Our Mission

Over the past 70 years, the world has seen an incredible increase in crop yields through the intensification of inputs, providing food for billions. Much of this success has been made possible through efficient fertilizer production, smart irrigation, and crop breeding.

Now the world faces the next great challenge: we need a robust food system to secure nutrition for all and responsible production of wood fibre to build homes and deliver renewable materials. This must be done in a way that creates productive, profitable farms and forests, and maintains healthy ecosystems.

At Cropcision, we aim to contribute by delivering ground breaking fertilizer products for the agriculture, forestry and horticultural sectors that bring a step change in efficiency.

We are guided by the principle that sustainable solutions must be affordable if they are to scale and make a difference.

Our Team

Jonathan Love – CEO & Co-founder
Jonathan Love has a broad background in agtech, forestry, and sustainable innovation. With a background in forest biotechnology and years of practical experience, working with eucalyptus silviculture, boreal forest establishment, and nutrient optimization of numerous cropping and greenhouse production systems, Jonathan blends scientific understanding, business acumen with a real-world approach to problem solving.
He has long worked at the intersection of research and commercialization, focusing on bringing science-based innovations to market – from lab to large-scale production. His goal is to prove that technologies benefiting farms and forests can also strengthen the green economy.

Michael Holmboe – Co-founder
Michael Holmboe is an Associate Professor at Umeå University and co-founder of Cropcision, where he developed the company’s technology together with Jonathan Love. His research focuses on molecular geochemistry, specifically how water and minerals interact in soil.
With a background from KTH and postdoctoral studies in the USA and Sweden, Michael is driven by the ambition to transform advanced research into practical solutions that enable land and forest managers to operate sustainably for the long term.

Jonas Gullberg – Business Development & Sales
Jonas Gullberg holds a PhD from SLU and has a background in forest genetics, plant physiology, and analytical chemistry. He combines deep scientific expertise with many years of experience in business development and marketing within technology-driven industries.
Jonas is motivated by turning research and innovation into practical solutions that create real value – with transparency, long-term thinking, and genuine partnerships as the foundation for both growth and trust.
